Basic Hummus.

We go through so much hummus in the Richardson household. We snack on it with crackers or vegetables, we put it in our salad dressing, we make vegetable-filled hummus wraps…

Here’s my simplest recipe for hummus. I can hardly ever resist throwing in some extras like artichokes, kalamata olives, or chipotle seasoning, so experiment to find your own favorite recipe!

Basic Hummus

2 ½ cups garbanzo beans

1 large clove garlic

Zest of 1 lemon

Juice of 2 lemons

½ tsp. salt

¼ tsp. cumin

Dash of cayenne

3 Tbsp. tahini

Pulse garlic in blender to mince. Add garbanzo beans, lemon zest and juice, salt, cumin, cayenne, and parsley. Pulse to combine. Add tahini and blend until smooth. Garnish with parsley or fresh basil.

  1. Yes!

  2. We just made a very similar recipe for a dinner party the other day, and added pomegranate seeds after the hummus was blended. It was delicious! Definitely worth the effort of seeding the pomegranate :P.
